Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein Product Recalls: Salmonella

The HVP (Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein) Recall is expected to be ongoing and have an extensive product list. There is a searchable database with a complete listing of the products currently identified as part of the recall which you can reach by clicking here. While the complete product list is currently eight pages long and expected to grow we will not send an alert on every single product unless the state Department of Health has identified the situation as changing dramatically. If you would like a complete listing as we get updates (expected 2-3 times a week) we will fax you this list as we get it but it will also include what you received today in the original Fax. In an effort not to clog your faxes with information that is available to you online and by other means, the Cole County Health Department will not be forwarding each individual product recall/update to you.  Businesses that do distribute/sell these types of products that contain HVP must review the product list on an ongoing basis and remove items from your shelves as you become aware.  If you wish to have the complete list faxed or emailed please notify our front desk at 573-636-2181 that you would like to receive the complete product recall list as it becomes available and how you wish to receive it email or fax.

Pistachio Product Recalls:
Salmonella

The FDA and the California Department of Public Health continue to investigate Salmonella contamination in pistachios and pistachio products.  Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella Inc., Terra Bella, Calif., is voluntarily expanding its recall of roasted pistachios to include all lots of roasted in-shell pistachios and roasted shelled pistachios that were produced from nuts harvested in 2008.  The firm is also recalling those raw shelled pistachios from the 2008 crop that are not subsequently roasted prior to retail sale. The pistachios may be contaminated with Salmonella.
