County Health Department Warns Citizens on Increased Tick-borne Diseases

Cole County Missouri- Cole County Health Department has seen a recent increase in tick-borne diseases including Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF) and Lyme-like disease. The health department has 12 RMSF cases so far this year. The total number of RMSF cases reported for the entire 2007 reporting period was 15. Lyme-like disease cases are also on the rise. In 2007, only one case of Lyme-like disease was reported in Cole County compared to two cases already reported in 2008.
