What kind of samples are collected?
- Both bacteriological and chemical water samples are collected on wells serving private homes and commercial establishments regulated by Cole County Health Department.
- Food samples collected for a food borne disease outbreak investigation.
- Mosquito samples are collected throughout mosquito season, and are tested for West Nile Virus as well as other mosquito carrying diseases.
What is considered an environmental emergency?
- Truck and train wrecks involving food products.
- Natural and man made disasters such as fires, floods, and earthquakes.
- Food tampering and food product recalls.
