What is Show Me Healthy Women (SMHW)?
- Formerly known as the Missouri Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Project. This program screens medically underserved women for breast and cervical cancer. Also, lifestyle counseling, free cholesterol tests and blood pressure checks for eligible SMHW participants.
Who may be eligible for SMHW services?
- Age Requirements: 35-64 years old.
- Income Eligibility: Women must have an income at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty income guidelines
- Women with Medicaid, Medicare part B or HMO health coverage are not eligible for SMHW.
What services are provided by SMHW?
- The screening services provide a clinical breast exam, education on self breast exam, pelvic exam and pap test. A mammogram and diagnostic services are provided when established criteria are met.
- Call The Cole County Health Department at 573-636-2181 and staff will discuss eligibility criteria and make an appointment.
- Submission of personal identification documents and proof of income are required at appointments.
