Why do I need a pap smear?

  • Every woman over the age of 18 (or earlier if sexually active) should have a yearly exam that includes a pap smear, pelvic exam and clinical breast exam. A pap smear is a sampling of the cells on a woman’s cervix. It is designed to detect cell changes that can progress to cervical cancer.

How much will the visit cost?

  • Fees for services are assessed based on household income according to a sliding fee scale. You will be responsible for some portion of the office visit and for the cost of the birthcontrol option you choose. CCHD will see out of county clients, but a higher fee is attached to the visit (see sliding fee scale chart D).
